i have a 2006 ford tarus when i get on the high way to go fast it revs really high until it switch's gears and some time it will all of a sudden just find a whole bunch of power witch it is suppose to have wondering if anyone can help me figure out the problem

Check transmission fluid and make sure that the shifter is in the overdrive position correctly.

I forgot to mention that, in my tranny (AX4N, 19 BOLT, not sure about AX4S, 17 BOLT), I think it is a lockup converter, comes out of lockup to give you a little more RPMs(only few hundred) when you want to pass then goes back to lockup. You may be able to feel it doing it and you can see it on the tach, Ford mechanic said to think of it as a 'little passing gear' and when you push the accelerator pedal enough, you will feel the actual downshift for passing gear, this also could be what you're experiencing, I have plenty of times on the highway.
