The black trim along my doors and small backseat windows has what appears to be a mold or bacteria growing on them. They appear to be flat dark circles on the trim. I threw some Tilex on it and they kinda went away but there are still marks on the trim where it was. IF it helps I live in florida, and have seen other vehicles with this.

Any idea what causes this and/or a way to safely remove this stuff?

Thanks

Try some bleach and water mixed at a 2 to 1 ratio. That will kill just about anything.

Its not Mold.. Unfortunately, its a byproduct of acid rain. For some reason, the black trim is very susceptible. It shows up a irregular circles, with some discoloring.
All you can do is clean and apply protectant. It will help to keep from getting worse, but once the damage is done, you stuck with it, or you can replace it!

Try using "Back to Black." It's a cleaner/dye that will "re-black" the molding to get rid of any fading or moldy looking stuff...

Yeah, I noticed the same thing on mine. It's definately not mold. I looks like it's just fading but man does it look ugly!
