the metal part of the heater hose just before the firewall leaks. When I first saw it I thought it would be easy fix with a new heater hose. Little did I know it is a metal heater hose and the repair shop told me it was a $400 part and $250 labor. Is there any easy way to fix this or am I stuck. Is there any easy way to bypass the heater core because it is July and I won't need heat until September
Thanks Frank

Welcome Frank,
I just did a similar job on my 2000 and I was able to get a complete hose assembly from RockAuto.com for about $35 that has the hoses and metal section preassembled. It was a bugger to replace just because of the location but not terrible. It's a good time to do a coolant flush too.
