I have a 2004 taurus 3.0 Liter (is not the Double overhead cam). Anyway, I took the air filter cover off and I used MAF sensor cleaner and sprayed it down real good, also cleaning the inside of the cover itself. I put it back on and I am still getting the same codes P0171 and P0174. With the engine running, I opened up the air filter cover and I ever so gently covered the opening on the back of the MAF sensor with my finger, and my engine tried to stall out. Would this indicate the MAF is working properly or would this indicate I need to replace the MAF?

Only way toproperly test MAF is to use a scan tool that will read the MAF flow reported to the PCM (g/min or lbs/hr) under various operating conditions and compare to published flow values.

See my response to your 171/174 post.
