Went to the junkyard today and got some goodies. $5 worth of stuff. As you can see, I got the lever caps for the remote trunk and gas door and the seat's side panels. I need to paint the red one to match.

You're probably wondering why I got one red one and one gray one. Well, the gray one came from a GL with manual seats so the driver's side one wouldn't work in my car. There were only 2 G2 Taurus sedans in the whole place. The rest were G1s. I looked, but all I found were power seats w/ lumbar and it'd look odd with a hole in the panel. The car ('93 GL) I got that red panel out of was really clean on the inside. I swear, the interior was cleaner than my car's interior (yeah, my car's real dirty)! I felt so sad ripping into that car. I also swiped the remote lever caps from that car. Those caps were on tight! Took a lot of force to force them off.

Comparison between the two passenger side panels:

Yeah, it's just something to make my car look better. Not bad for $5.

Looks great! :thumb: I need to get some seat side panels for my Sable too. Whats the secret to getting those lever caps off?

Well, you want to take off that plastic cover so you don't screw it up. There's one screw under the levers and a plastic rivet to the right side of the lock. Then you take a pair of needle-nose pliers and put it on the lever cap that covers the metal lever. Then you pry it off with force. The metal has a small bulge that goes into a hole in the plastic caps so that's how it's kept on. To install new caps, I recommend a rubber mallet and tap it in.

I don't know what my next project will be. I want to tint the windows, but I don't have enough money at the moment.

Ah.... it's the little things that make all the difference in the world. Great Job Alex, keep up the good work, one question though, why paint it blue, or did it just come out that way?

At first I thought the paint would match, but it turned out to be a little more blue than gray.

Yeah, it just came out that way. The cap looked like the same gray color, but when the paint dried, it didn't look like the cap. Maybe the primer I used had something to do with it. It was a light gray color.
