I have a 2002 Taurus SES with the 3.0L OHV Engine. I have been experiencing driveability problems. I checked my fuel pressure at HOT idle with a mechanical gauge and an Actron CP-9180 scan tool. This is what I found. The Ford Shop Manual says my pressure should be 50-56 psi (350-380 kpa). The actual results are: 38-almost 46 psi (303-318 kpa) without the AC on. With the AC on (when I notice the most problems) 39-40 psi (303-321 kpa). When I shut the engine off the pressure on the manual gauge read 46 psi. The psi readings were taken from the manual gauge and the kpa readings were taken from the scan tool. What I really want to know is what people with the SAME engine and nearly identical or same model year, with a good-running car (NO issues) are getting on their fuel pressure either mechanically or with a scan tool. I would GREATLY appreciate the information. Thanks very much.
