K&n

Hey, I was just on K&N's home page and they have a link to a questionaire about possibly making new products for cars. Maybe if we get a bunch of people to fill them out asking for an FIPK or a typhoon for the taurus, we'll finally get a big name, mainstream, QUALITY, intake for the tauruses. I just filled one out. I'd rather see K&N stuff on the market for our cars instead of wasting our time with APC. Also, they may need a test vehicle, and I saw that their research facilty in the U.S. is out in california, so we may need to SUPPORT WEST COAST TCCA!!! (heh, that was for you, Troper) members so they can help us out.

Yeah that would be cool if they made cai for out cars. But I can tell you this, if they think I am going to pay $250 for a cai setup then they're drunk.
no s*it, I mean honestly whats the damn difference if u just find a pipe that will fit the engine bay and bolt on a kn cone at the end, no diff at all, oh wait you wouldnt have "typhoon" on the pipe, oh there a 5 hp loss!! lol
Whatever, have fun with your crappy pvc and duct tape. I was just trying to get something nice, but I guess apc tail lights and turbo whistlers are a priority on your agenda.
you dont have to be an a****** about it. If he wants to make his own let him, if you want to spend money on one do it....but stop being an a******.
I had to make my own intake because there was nothing on the market, and you know what, there never will be anything on the market if people have this attitude. I'm just trying to help out taurus enthusiasts who can appreciate quality. I know I would've bought a K&N kit if it was available instead of custom fabbing what I have now.
On one hand, it would be nice to have a nice professional CAI for the Taurus. On the other hand, the K&N FIPK isn't really all that great, especially for the ridiculous price they seem to want. Believe it or not, a "PVC and duct tape" CAI will boost HP as much as the FIPK if you do it right. And in either case, we're talking a few HP on very hot days, and next to nothing on cold days. To me and probably 99% of the Taurus community, that's not worth $200+.

However, I will support this motion, simply because there are plenty of people out there who would buy the thing simply because it is a performance part for a car that has NO performance aftermarket. If K&N got on board, we might get a little more respect from the rest of the world. Other manufacturers might begin to see the performance market for our cars.

I think we should all take the 5 minutes to show K&N we're interested. It's not like you are promising them you'll line their pockets... just show them you think we deserve some attention.

PVC haha I dont use that crap....I didnt want my opinion to get all rowdy, no I do appreciate the fact that you care enuf to let k&n know we are interested, I myself have a weapon r setup, two seperate chrome pipes down in the wheelwell with a 60 dollar weapon r filter, I didnt use ducttape by any means, as a matter of fact I bought a maf adapter from u! I love my intake, everyone has their own way of doing it, some just want performance aka duct tape, pvc whatever, and some will spend 200 to get a nice one, I would, but I got mine done, no more arguments, REMEMBER I DO APPRECIATE EVERYONE here for making this club what it is today, thanks Mike, and everyone, thats all...

I do not know if this was covered in any of your posts, but here it goes. Oil those K&N panel filters lightly. Oil from the K&N can clog your MAF sensor wires from detecting air flow. Also, the FIPK kits are no more effective than their panel filters with stock boxes without the silencer. Try asking them for their air flow number compared to stock. Just a little FYI. I'm not saying don't buy K&N (they are the shiznit) just be careful what you pay $250 for. I'd personally sink my money into a throttle body/intake package.
