Just Getting Acquainted

Hey everyone! I am new to TCCA (as you can see by my post total), and I am thrilled to find out about these boards. I have loved my bull ever since my mother bought it on her birthday in 1995 and then gave it to me for my college graduation in 2001.

It is a blue, 1994 SHO with 101K miles. This looks like a great resource for modifications and I cant wait on making my own custom SHO.

I do have a question. I hear the life expectancy on my SHO engine can be upwards of 300K. What about the tranny and clutch? Mine had a new clutch put in at 35K and nothing but routine maintenance since. There have been some electrical problems, but this car has run strong for 10 years now!

Anyway, enough rambling. Sorry if I seem over excited about this, but a man's love for his car (especially a SHO) can drive his emotions

first off, welcome to the club. It sounds like you've got yourself a pretty nice SHO from the way you described it. Any pictures? If so, we'd love to see them.

I'm not an expert on SHO's or anything, but I do hear that SHO parts are quite expensive, and that SHO's are the most expensive taurus to maintain. The Yamaha engine is quite reliable, and is one of the best engines put in a Taurus...:cough: except for the duratec :cough:

Welcome to the TCCA! You are correct on the engine, properly maintained it will last a long time. My 89 had about 190k on it, and still ran like a top. The MTX transmissions hold up fine, as long as you don't beat on them. Burnouts and clutch dropping will severely shorten the life of them.
Welcome to the club!! Where are you located? You should let me drive your SHO, cuz I'm cool like that.

But to be formal - My name is Ashley, and I'm the coolest one here

haha, oh some people will try and talk you into staying far away from me with my crash record, but don't listen to them - they liiiiiee!!

Have fun here!

You guys are hilarious, and thanks for the warm welcome!

I have been trying to find out how soon I need to plan for a new car. Apparently that wont be for a long time. That's a good thing because I love that car.

Ashley... sorry, but you cannot drive my car. Heck, I dont even let my own wife drive it! lol

BTW, I am in Southern California. I have been here since 1996 and have only seen about 5-6 SHOs. I get people in my apartment complex offering to buy it and telling me stories about how they had older ones.

What a cult following! Pics will follow....

So, how is that going for ya?
I'm a bit possesive with my taurus, and I can only imagine what problems I'll get into when I get married.
