How does a meet on Saturday, June 13th sound? Once we figure out who wants to join/show up...we can figure out some itinerary :) This will be in the Raleigh / Durham area ("The Triangle").

Post if you'd be interested and/or if you have some ideas for activities B)

Meetup will be sometime between 10:30AM-11:00AM at Duke University East Campus

Map here:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source...mp;t=h&z=17

Basically, you'll take Durham Highway 147 to Exit 14 and go in the Northern Direction. Make a right at the first light over the railroad tracks and then the first left at a light.

From there, there is a round-a-bout. Go essentially straight into the campus. We'll meet at the auditorium in the very far back.

Essentially from when you enter Duke's campus: Go straight. At the end, go left then the first right. Take the first left and yield right. Go straight to the very end of the campus.

Hope to see y'all there!

I dunno if I can make it or not...... :p

I'll be there. June 13th I'll be at Duke.

Ideas so far are driving/pictures in areas including: Creedmore, Glenwater Ave, Highway 64 near Apex/Chapel Hill, and this small road that is near Jordan Lake State Park from Highway 64 to 15-501 in Chapel Hill. Also backroads from Chapel Hill to Durham and Highway 751 near Duke (there's a nice 55mph stretch through Duke Forest)

Pictures/Driving also in downtown Raleigh.

For Food, there are plenty of excellent eateries in all locations. Chapel Hill has Franklin Street, including Top of the Hill and a few good cafes. Durham has Southpoint Mall and also 9th Street/Brightleaf for more local cuisines. Raleigh downtown has tons of good stuff as well.

If we wanted to go to a park instead for lunch, Jordan Lake or Falls Lake for big recreation areas. Crabtree Valley Lake is nice near the airport (including boat rentals). Also Pullen Park near NC State University.

Of course, there is always Duke Gardens as well.

Just some ideas to throw out there....

Okay, over the next few weeks I'll post some videos and pictures of different driving roads and areas to go to.

This first one is a video from Durham NC (specifically Duke) up I-85 to Creedmoor NC and then down Highway 50 through Falls Lake Park.

From there, it's straight to Peace Street in Downtown Raleigh

Video is time Lapse.

Here's the Google Maps Link to the exact path driven:

This is from Duke University to Erwin Rd to Chapel Hill North Carolina. From there, it's down some nice backroads to Jordan Lake Park. Then to Highway 64 and then North 751 the rest of the way back to Duke.

I can probably make it to this meet. So far I am good as I type this.

Some ideas I would throw out include....

-Maybe a car show/ or car museum?

-Junk Yard hunting is always fun

-We can drive each others cars in an open parking lot

-I would suggest eating out together at least once as a group
:D

So I guess on Saturday we'll have plenty of time to sit around and BS, check the cars out, get some lunch, drive around, pictures, etc. But are there any places to check out/things to do that someone would like to do? I'll bring my tripod and camera along.

I have connections with the local Ford dealer(I worked there for over 15 years). I know they haven't received any 2010 Taurus models yet, but I might be able to get them to bring over a new Fusion or Mustang. Let me know if you would like this.

Sure why not bring one of them over for us to check out :) Sounds good.

There's a U Pull It/Pull A Part type place on the eastern side of Raleigh if anyone is interested in checking that place out.

If you are coming to the meet, if you wouldn't mind posting your name, cell, car info. Just incase we need to get in contact with one another... The thread is in the Southeast Voting subforum in this one, if you need the password PM me or soccernamlak for it.

Looking forward to Saturday, hopefully nice weather B)
