As some of you know, I'm new to this neck of the woods. I will more than likely be asking many questions in other threads, but here is where I will be posting everything I install/build/modify/fix on the car.

I have officially named him James. Why? I like the name. :)

Anyway, first thing on the list will be to replace the factory speakers. I will be making adapters from 6x8 to 6.5 so I have a wider selection of speakers. Audio is my forte with vehicles. After that I plan on some basic aesthetic mods, including blacking out the grille (other than the chrome) with plastidip, dipping the wheels anthracite grey, carbon fiber pillar covers, LED switchback blinkers, HID headlights, tinting the windows, and maybe tinting the taillights. After that comes performance. Cold air intake, possible exhaust, brake upgrades, and whatever else it takes to make 300HP out of this V6. Finally, big audio. Full 2 or 3 way active setup, DSP/EQ, amps, subs, all while keeping the spare tire accessible and the trunk somewhat usable.

This whole build is probably going to take a very, very long time, as I am a full time college student. Any and all input is appreciated, and I can't wait to start this build!

The girlfriend fits! LOL

Went for a drive from Eau Claire, WI to Madison, WI and back over yesterday and today for a grand total of 387 miles. Even with warming up the car I got 26.8 MPG and total gas cost less than $30. This is absolutely mind blowing to me, I've never owned a car that gets such great mileage. :)

Nice! My wife isn't even getting that out of her Focus
We got a substantial amount of snow overnight as well so I'm sure I could have gotten even better mileage.

Hahah we both got in the trunk and closed it, actually. We determined that 3 people could comfortably fit in the trunk

The spec on the 2008-2009 model was five golf bags, or five corpses.

The car has been affectionately nicknamed Captain Slow.

Equipment list:

Subs:
2 Tantric LD 8s custom built for infinite baffle. These will be mounted in the rear deck in an infinite baffle setup.

Factory integration/processing:
PPI DSP-88R

Sub amps:
Ground Zero GZNA 1.2550DXII

Front door speakers:
Alpine Type R 6.5" component set temporarily

Rear door speakers:
Probably just gonna throw the Kenwood 6x8s I have laying around in there.

Front speaker amp:
Ground Zero GZHA 4200XII

Not amping the rear door speakers. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Deadener:
Tantric VibraFlex AKA Gator Skin. Cuz this stuff is THICK and STRONG. I also plan to go all out with MLV and acoustical foam, I want this car to be as quiet of a ride as possible. Reducing that noise floor, yo. Roof, floor, doors, pillars, the whole deal.
Second Skin Damplifier Pro, Overkill Pro, and Luxury Liner as well.

As needed I will be adding banks of supercapacitors. Cuz I really, really want some of them.

Shout out to Notloudenuf of Car Audio Junkies for sending me these 6x8 to 6.5 speaker adapters! These will greatly increase my selection of speakers as well as provide a waterproof and airtight connection between the speakers and the door panel.

I pulled the trigger on an anthracite grey wheel plastidip kit, which will be here tomorrow. I needed to make it look not-so-stock anymore.

Man looking forward to some pictures. I too am doing an audio upgrade. Also looking to the replace the stock rims but have been throwing around the idea of plastidip until I can get the new.

If you don't mind me asking, what did that set you back? I'm thinking about doing the same with my wheels being the finish is 'less than stellar' after this winter and salt eating it up.

I got a kit containing 4 cans, Brake Dust Professional, and a spray handle, grand total with shipping was just shy of $75. Finished up 1 wheel and threw it on real quick just to see what it looks like... Man, I don't think it could get any better.

That's what my dad was saying. I'm very impressed with how easy it is to apply as well, it helps to let the cans sit in warm water in between coats though. If the cans are cold it comes out chunky, almost. Doesn't get a nice, even spray.

I'll have to remember this thread when I get my next car if I ever need to coat the rims.
