What is that in the third pic? Center of the vehicle? I do not recognize it.

That's just the "frame" where the subframe bolts to. It 's right there under the front doors about a foot in.

As for the rear jacking point, you shouldn't jack it up right at the metal part where the control arms attach. Right behind it between the two "walls" is a flat spot to use.

I use the front crossmember to raise the whole front of the car, although this part is less substantial (It flexes a little) on the gen 3 and 4 cars than on gen 1 and 2.

They were there in 2009 when I made my reply.
Thanks, I've got the photos now. My problem when jacking the front is I can't get in far enough to get to those spots that you designate, eventhough my jacks are fairly low but not low enough. So, for now, I use the outside edges to jack (do use the inside beam for the stands) and so far, thankfully, no damage to the edges.
