Is There A Head Unit For Gen Ivs?

1194 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  mth676
I'd like to be able to play CDs I burn (AIFF files) and and MP3 CDs in my '02 SEL. This means a unit that reads CD-Rs and MP3 files. An AUX jack would be great, too.

There are more and more of these in the Aftermarket, but I can't find anything that will replace my Mach radio. It's apparently tied to the climate control system, and if I change the radio, I'm told I won't be able to use the A/C. And I wouldn't mind losing the cassette deck. Don't need it, don't want it.

Has anybody done a mod on the Gen IV Mach system? The SPL is fine, and I don't need a sub. (I am going to put in a signal booster for the radio, though.)

Also, has anybody put a power antenna on a Gen IV?

I dont know if it will work on a g4 (it should) but ask Brad (the_spy_guy) on a tutorial. He bypassed the radio to play an aftermarket deck while still having his automatic climate stuff still work.

Thanks, Fire!
The easiest solution is to get a cd changer.
May be easier, but it sure is annoying to get out to re-stock the cds when you can just pop them in while driving!

Well, a choice of yours would be to get a FM modulator.. you could then get a MP3 discman or something of the such and plug that into it

I have a sony 10 disc changer in my trunk and love it. I will change out the cd's every once in a while when I want some different music. Plus while im driving I can always pop in a cd to my sony head unit. I would go for a stock cd changer h/u and a stock changer or compatible aftermarket one for the trunk.
