My wife's 2000 Taurus is coming up on it's second tranny service. The last time at 40k I had it flushed. This time I am planning on getting it flushed, then dropping pan to change filter/ clean pan & magnets. I was thinking of adding Mobil 1 to replace what is lost with the pan drop.

Is Mobil 1 compatible with the Mercon/Ford fluid?

How much fluid is needed for replacing what is lost with pan drop?

Think of any problems of having some M1 and mostly regular stuff?

Thanks

I don't know if it's compatible, but you shouldn't mix Mercon/Dexron III with Mercon V. If you do you'll end up with a shuddering in the shifting and could lead to premature tranny failure.

I also think it holds about 12-14 quarts of tranny fluid.

That page does not mention mercon III, nor does it mention mercon V. I simply lists it as Ford Mercon performance levals compatable. Your best bet is to contact Mobil 1 directly to find out for sure.

its not necessary to go with Mobil one atf. Go for something like valvoline mercon/dexron III....

changing ATF more frequently, and adding a tranny cooler is a better option than going for expensive Mobil1, amsoil etc...
