My '86 Sable has the notorious AXOD tranny. Just recently had it serviced and forgot to have a trans cooler installed. Not a problem as I can do this myself, I just didn't want to. Anyway, I found that there are many size applications but most are universal. Hayden has an 8 row 15.5" x 10" cooler that should fit in front of the radiator, while there are larger RV ones as well. Would this be overkill or is bigger the better if room permits.

Size the cooler to fit the applications, driving conditions & enviorment.

A thermostatically controlled flat plate design offers up a more efficient, thus smaller profile cooler, than the fin & tube type & it'll fit in tighter places & adjust the cooling with changing weather & driving conditions, so that it'll keep the fluid closer to it's designed operating temp, not over or under cooled, so the fluid will work better & it & the tranny will likely last longer.

Some cooler thoughts for consideration, let us know what you choose & how it goes.
