Hi all, like the title says I have a 2002 sable that intermittently, the power windows are totally dead. When this happens, the map lights are also dead. You know how you can flip the switch on the light on the roof and normally the light will come on to read a map or find stuff you dropped on the floor? Flipping that switch does nothing. Drive a little while, and suddenly it starts working again. It always comes back on eventually so we've been living with it for years, but it can be annoying.
I read this thread power window and dome light problem and sounds like it can be the accessory relay or the ignition switch. I think I tried swapping the accessory relay awhile back and that didn't help, so maybe ignition switch is next? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this part of the car? I bought a manual on a CD awhile back, but I can't find it and never could really find wiring diagrams on there anyway... I find it odd that the map light (which normally works whether the key is on or not) is going through the ignition switch. But, who knows, Ford could have done pretty much anything! There are no blown fuses and the car doesn't have any other issues.
