I am new to the Taurus - just bought a 96 G that has a few problems. When I searched here for some answers, I was 99% sure that I had a TRS propblem - seat belt light was coming on, power steering cutting out, door switch lights going off, etc. I discovered quite by accident that the problem was not the TRS, but the ignition switch. When starting the motor, the ignition switch does not always return to the proper position. If I give the key just a slight counter clockwise nudge, it goes to the right position, and all the above symptoms disappear! So my question is, is there a proper way to lubricate the ignition switch, or is it probably just a wear issue?

Replace the switch. Part is cheap, and the replacement is easy to do.
