Hey guys, I just spent 4 hours with my friends today installing a new stereo in my 98 Taurus.....yes seems kinda long, but we had to take apart the car to run the wires. First I ran the wires through the trunk -> back seat -> side panels -> around accelerator -> back of stereo. While putting the Scosche kit in with my stereo, I noticed that the back side of the climate control (the fan speed knob to be precise) jams the entire stereo from going all the way in. There is a metal frame around the oval shaped hole, which prevents the left side of the stereo from getting locked in. I was thinking of filing off the black metal frame, about a quarter inch or so,since it doesn't look like it will do much damage.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has ran into this problem as well?

It sounds like you have the climate controls hooked up to the aftermarket kit incorrectly. Try taking it apart leaving the head unit intact, and then assembling it again.
