Installing Switch To Turn Off A/c Motor

I've already decided that I am going to do this, so please no comments about "don't do this" and whatever.

I had unplugged my A/C motor before to disable it while using the defrost setting, now I would like to install a switch on the dash to cut power instead of having to unplug it.

What gauge wire should I use? The guy at the parts store said it would say on a schematic of the car, but it doesn't say anything in my Haynes manual... so I'm kinda stuck.

Yeah, but I would like to put a switch in so if it gets extremely muggy or hot out, I don't have to go under the hood to enable the A/C.

I plan on just cutting the power wire on that connector, and run a switch through the firewall and then mount it on the dash.
