Hello,

My 2002 OHV 3.0L 6V has a consistent misfire in cylinder 3 at all engine speeds. I have replaced the spark plugs and wires. I used an ignition tester, and I can get what appears to be consistent sparks.

I tested the resistance on the coil pack. My Haynes repair manual specifies 0.5 ohm primary resistance and 13,600 ohm secondary resistance. The primary resistance was 0.5 ohms across the board, right on the money. The secondary resistance was about 9,400, 9,500, and 9,600 ohms for the three coils.

The repair manual doesn't list a range, so I'm not sure if 9,400 ohms is too far out of range. If it were just the coil for cylinders 3 and 4, I wouldn't hesitate to replace the coil pack. But it seems strange to me that the coil would be causing a misfire in just one cylinder if all of them have the same problem.

Any thoughts on this?

Thank you!

Ive had many coils test in spec, yet fail under load. If plugs and wires are new, i would replace coil pack.
