My 01 Sable with 52K has a problem similar to what jerrybarr posted. Coming off the freeway, the car will not decelerate normally. Switching to neutral shows the engine is revving at 1700 rpm while coasting. I also have the car lurch when I engage the transmission. The idle eventually goes down, but the lag time is excessive. I've cleaned the throttle body and replace the IAC motor, yet the problem remains. Any thoughts?

according to my book you need to check be sides #1. cause you already did that. i use white grease on the throttle linkage and work it in my taking and moving the throttle pedal in and out. or at the throttle body working it in engine off ! if that does not work the next big suspect is a vacuum leak. i already am developing one on my 1997.
1 iac
2 throttle linkage
3 vacuum leaks at the intake manifold or hose fittings
4 or it is a fuel injection or engine control system malfunction

Might be a tranny coast clutch solenoid issue like malodin and myself are experiencing. Maybe search for his recent thread and see if it applies to you.

It's the IAC or the throttle plate being held open by carbon or a vacuum leak.
