I have a '03 Bull , and I have been working on the sound system . First you might want to know what I already have :
Boss BV7320 Headunit (pictured)
Sony X-Plod 6x8s in front doors
Pioneer 6x8s in rear deck
Two 12 inch JL Audio subs in composite wood sealed box
Boss 1100 watt mono block amp
& four dome tweeters on the way . I'm into sound systems .

Now my problem is I would love to have speakers in my back doors , but as we all know 4th gens don't come with any . I honestly would rather have speakers in the back doors than the back deck . But obviously would love both. Has anyone done this ? If so pictures would be AWESOME . Any ideas on how to add speakers there or what size ? I'm thinking 6x8 all around .
And even though I have a nice headunit I'm no an idiot , so I'm prepared to add another amplifier to power the extra load .

I didnt read too many comments on this thread, in my Taurus i have Diamond Audio 12's w/ Diamond Amp. My front door speakers are 6.8 DB Audio and i had my rear doors custom-made with DB Audio 4.5 speakers on each end. Sounds alot better through-out the car i could def. tell the difference. Also have a 2400watt Digital Capacitor. If u dont have the money to put into your car dont waste your time...dont live beyond your means. Im 22yrs old i was in college when i was in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Police Officer. Now i drive 18wheelers across all 48states n Canada, n ive invested over $17,000 into my car. But in my city..Birmingham, Al i have a guy that has done everything u can do with cars for a little over 13years and he told me the door speakers to get, fitted and cut them into my doors..wired and installed including the speakers themself brand new for $115.

Im not at home, but i will try and get my sister to take some pics of the rear door speakers for you.
Hey Ice, forget the pictures. I want to see a YouTube of the 5.0 saleen engine sitting in your Taurus engine bay and a step by step on how you did it. Dropping a 5.0 in a Taurus has been a dream of mine for well over a decade. Unfortuately, I had to give up my Mustang Saleen dream 4 years ago when the market killed my Saleen dream. Nothing will ever beat "power in the hand of a few". When you can post the pics and video walk through
give me a PM cuz I don't want to miss it. I can settle for a few pics if you obvious Lu can do video. I almost wonder if your car can stand? I can hardly wait.

I'll be home the week of thanksgiving i'll be more than happy to make a walkthrough along with my sponsor, Appearance Car Audio based out of Alabama. That was my inspiration after seeing Saleen has made an Explorer, Windstar etc. So i got with an Elite group and did something NO-ONE was able to do..and it paid off..the car is sponsored n gets a check every month from these guys and is present in car shows when im able to take off from my employer. Inbox you, we'll keep in touch.
word. I believe there was a thread on here about how nice people are around here. So lets keep it up.
Hehe, I think I started that thread :)

Hmmm ? You again ? I have a feeling , that for what ever reason you don't like me . But that's fine , let me do this again . First , you said not one thing about mounting speakers in the back doors , instead you would rather try and make fun, or try to embarrass me . I laugh ay this . You go ahead and spend all you big money on "only, the best" . I'll chill and use what I have to the best of my ability .
I make good decisions when I choose what to put in my car , that's not a question, I know that. I can only invest what I have also .
SO WHEN YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT HOW I CAN GET SOME 6X8S IN MY BACK DOORS, come down off you almighty high horse and lend a hand . It would be appreciated .
OK, kid, you need to grow up and learn how to talk to people.

I read his response several times and saw nothing insulting or meant to "embarrass" you. He's absolutely correct about the fact that Boss is a horrible-quality brand.

I honestly do not think that rear door speakers are going to provide much of a benefit to your ear as the driver. Even for the rear passengers who it would mainly benefit, they already the louder rear deck speakers right behind them so it would be overkill. You'd be blasting their ears as you turn it up higher to hear the speakers from the distance of the driver's seat. If you have a baby on the way, you really do not need to add more volume to the back seat.

I'd follow his advice and invest in some higher-quality speakers for your front doors and rear deck before trying to experiment with lower-quality components in greater numbers. Quality over quantity, son.

My favorite speaker brand is Polk. I've had some Infinity speakers and loved them too. Even a higher-end set of Pioneers would be upgrades over stock, but with a Boss head unit, you're going to have trouble getting a good sound out of anything.

I'm voting no rear door speakers...use that money to upgrade what's already in the car first. Good luck.

Uh... as GoSloSho said. *I would say TIME!
timeout guys. *The new guy alludes to possibly more than one "thread" interaction and even if he's off center or not I don't think it's proper to dogpile him. *What he felt was true for him even if we don't/ didn't see it. *Anyhow, If there was a message he probably got already. *Ahem, there were many. *He probably feels like Dinoso from NCIS when Gibbs appears out of no where and gives him a tender display of affection. *After so many whacks from different folks *upside the head he may not feel welcome. *So can we try to be nice and family or warm and friendly.

Guys He's also very proud of his BOSS head unit thats why he posted the photo and is very excited about it. *So don't rain on his parade sorta speak. *In 97' when I installed my first aftermarket radio a Sanyo tape deck in my ford escort. *I was as proud as he was and I was also a broke college student. *Three Taurus's later (deceased bull 93 Taurus LX RIP 2010) I tried to put jbl 5.25's *In my rear doors with pioneers in the rear deck and infinity high end components in the front. *But I was shut down by the Circuit City Mobile Insall. Mgr. *Four taurus's later I have Alpine Type X subs, *Infinity Kappa perfect Components and RFBDCP Amps. Equipment all from 3 DIFFERENT companies ..a no-no in the audio world [mixed-matched equipment]. *I survived a lecture from a RF purist who had all Rockford Fosgate gear. *So I am still getting it together myself :-/ *Anyway, the point is that the BOSS head unit is HIS baby. *So *don't tell him his 15 oz. bundle of joy is ugly or horrible. *It's HIS baby. *So....cut the new college kid some or ALOT of slack & patience and...

As with all car audio questions, the first thing you should try and figure out is "What is it that I'm trying to do?". Are you just trying to get as loud as possible, or do you want an SQ setup that will actually sound nice?

If you want your system to sound nice, a set of 6x8 Infinity Kappa components up front and full range Kappas in the back on a 125.4 amp would be the easiest route to go with the stock hole sizes. I currently have separate two EQ's (front and rear respectively), but the rear volume stays on a 2/10. Adding speakers to your rear door will do nothing to improve the sound of your system.

After upgrading your speakers to a properly amped set in the 100rms range, ask yourself are rear door speaker truly needed.
