This is really a silly question. I flushed transmission yesterday. Dipstick shows 1/4" too much oil. How do you remove the excess?

it's messy, but take off one of the cooler lines and run the engine for a bit. Hopefully you can get it into a bucket.

worked for me when I overfilled changing a filter.

If you diconnect the tranny return line at the cooler & plug the return hose, then add a length of scrap rubber hose to the cooler line & idle the engine, it'll remove 1qt/15 seconds at warm idle.

If you don't want to do that & have a tranny dipstick fill tube, remove the tranny dipstick, insert a length of plastic tubing longer than the dipstick, (so if you drop it, it'll still be long enough to get hold of it) then attach a hand pump to it & remove what you want.

In a pinch I've used a hand soap pump, but it was slow going, a Marine lower unit gear oil hand pump is a lot faster & you can come by them at most marinas, hardware & farm stores for about $6-$8.

More thoughts for consideration.

Siphon the fluid out, I removed 2 quarts by syphoning out.
Just get a 5 ft hose, drop into the pan via the dip-stik / filler hole.

Its lil slower process, might take 10-15 minutes, so have patience.

Dont need anything.. no pump..
