I removed the driver's door striker from my 2000 Taurus. The striker is held in place by two torx bolts. When I removed both bolts, the threaded plate that the bolts screw into dropped down into the B (door) pillar. Tomorrow I will remove the B pillar interior trim and see if there is a way to access the lost part. Otherwise, does anyone have any experience with replacing the attachment plate? Any advice would be appreciated.

I got this fixed. I had to remove the interior trim from the front door sill and the B pillar. Retrieved the backing plate, and used the openings in the B pillar to hold it in place while reattaching the striker.

This project began when I stripped one of the torx bolts that holds the door striker in position. It was a job that should have taken five minutes at the most, and just grew into a multi-hour adventure.
