I have a 1998 Taurus SE. 105,000 miles. Newly rebuilt transmission. Very clean, few body dents. No true upgrades or mods, just my mesh grille. I still have the original grille if I have to put it back in. I've also got an install kit that I painted the same color as the car.

How much do you think it would sell for? Blue Book Private Party is around $4,000

You can find a sucker to buy it for $4k. My friend had a 1998 Sable, with all the options- chrome wheels ,sunroof ,cd, etc. It had 96,000 miles and she got $5200 for it. She just sold it 2 months ago, start your asking price high, then let them talk you down to what you really want. ;)

Geography factors into price as well. I would say between 3-4 grand, being that that tranny has just been rebuilt. Say 3,800 or B/O.

Don't worry about, what it would sell for, just keep it and enjoy. :D

Besides look at it this way, you probably don't have a car payment. Mine is $498.00/month but that is paying the $24k off in 3 years.

That was about what the payment for my 2000 SEL was.

It was 478.00 but it was a 3 year loan paying off about 17,500. It seemed wayyy to high...it is after all, a Taurus. For an extra year I could have easily paid off a nice used BMW for that car payment. Came out to be around 24,000 for an extra year.

I think I'll keep it...it's been good to me...well, except for the tranny. It has the Duratec, so I enjoy blowing by the ricers who think they're all cool and everything. :p
