Bought my 2000 SEL for $4250 April 2008 w/110K. The window sticker said it sold for MSRP 24,500 new, and the dealer paperwork said the prior owner got it for 21K and change.
Bought my 1987 GL for $100 Sept 2010 w/197K.

2000 Taurus SE, Feb of '10. $2500. Not bad at all really. Only thing wrong was a bad heater core. Still really good condition until I got it lol. 127k, now its over 150.

1998 Taurus SE with 163k for $1800 back in April. Generally great condition for its age, I think. Though I immediately needed to have a big oil leak fixed (oil pressure sender), replace two tires and then discovered exactly how bad a 'small' rusty bit in one of the rear wheel wells was once I scraped the paint from it.

But still, all and all... I'm happy.

I bought a '04 Taurus SE with 191k on the clock for $1,600. Put a few hundred into it to get it on the road. No rust or body damage, just needed a coil pack, plugs, wires, and a MAF.

It was a fleet vehicle owned by Georgia Pacific, hince the high mileage. I love the car! Right now it has some shifting issues, the code I had pulled indicate a problem with the pressure control solenoid, it goes in Monday to get fixed.

After its all said and done, I'll still be ahead and have a great car!

My 03 was a fleet car as well. Got it with 170 on the clock and we just crossed 200k the other day. Paid $3500 for it 3 years ago.

Our new to us 98 sable wagon has 178k on it and we paid $2000 for it.

05 SEL Tec bought in 06 for $12K with 24K miles on the clock. This car was an early private lease return. This car is LOADED with every available option. Zero problems except for a broken rear spring last summer. $200 for a pair of quick struts and it was good to go.

04 SES Tec (wifes car) bought in 05 with 19k on the clock for $12K. Zero problems to date. This car was an ex rental.

95 GL Vulcan. Got it free 10 months ago with 42 K miles on it when my 88 year old mother gave up driving. Ran a little ratty as she never wanted me to do much maintainance on it as it "ran fine" (her words). After I got it, $400 in parts and 40 hours of work and it runs like a new car and looks pretty good.

2000 Ford Taurus SES for $1800 with 115k couple months ago. Only needs lower ball joints and struts. Nice first car, even though I wish it was a bit faster at times :rolleyes2: & had more mods.

Bought my 03 SEL in July 09 with 49,000 miles for $2,700. Had to pull out the passengers side quarter panel but since I park it on the mean streets of NYC it was exactly what I wanted. Sunroof, premium sound system and everything mechanical working. Original owner Hertz rent a car.
Have put on 9500 miles so far and have put on new tires, front brakes air and fuel filters.

first Taurus

I've had a lot of cars, but just picked up my first Taurus. Picked it up wholesale from a dealer for $1400. In fantastic shape and it is a 1999 SE Sport/Comfort so loaded with every option except ABS (would have been over $24K MSRP back in the day). 142k miles. Only problems are only one key (grr), it will need new tires soon, and the CD changer won't eject the disc holder. Wholesale manager actually took a lot of grief from the salesmen afterwards because they knew they could have cleaned it and put in on the lot and made money on it, rather than it being an auction vehicle. They had just taken it on trade two days earlier and basically had just come out of inspection when we snagged it.

When we moved to Florida in 1997 we didn't have a pot to pee in, let alone a window to dump it out of so we bit the bullet and bought our (OK, my:lol2:) wagon for a weekly payment - the amount of which I forget now - whose total price for three years of payments ended up being $9500 or so from one of those 30% interest dealers Florida is (in)famous for. I swore I'd get my money's worth out of it for that kinda money, and it's still going strong.

Funny thing is, the dealership went out of business in 2003 and the service manager ended up at a parts dealer I patronize occasionally. He shakes his head every time he sees it.:D
