I was on my way home to take the first bunch of stuff back since I have to move at the end of the month. I was in the turning lane waiting for traffic going the other direction. a 17 year old in a 92 Bonnie started drifting over towards the middle of the road, I didn't think too much of it except the usuall slight nervous feeling, since it looked like he was getting ready to make the turn into my neighborhood. well he kept coming strait and by the time he had crossed the center line into the turning lane and it was clear something was wrong there wasn't even time to get to the horn. it destroyed the front facia, hood, fender, driver's door, inner fender covers and the wheel and tire. the steering linkage is also broken I'm not sure as to the extent of the damage on that one. my clear corner lens on that side is gone. cracked and scratched the headlight cover all up, but somehow that took all the damage and the headlight itself is okay. it also ruined the chrome vinyl SHO logo on that door. My uncle made those just for me at his shop in PA. a bit of further observation showed that it also destroyed my cool air intake. I don't know if the filter is okay or not, but the duct is completely torn up. there's also other more minor damage to the rear door and the A-Pillar, both caused by the other parts scraping them. left a big hole in the driver's door and then it proceeded to downpour, so my $160 speaker got soaked. no idea if its going to be alright or not. he also hit a 2004 Escalade that was behind me, but that car only got a bad scratch. his fault, he says he looked down to change his radio station or something like that. so I'm really depressed right now. my girlfriend called me earlier but I just told her I was busy, I feel like being alone right now (she knows what happened, its not like I'm keeping that from her) so anyway, that's that. wounded but not fatally. I just hope that I can get her back soon, and in as good of shape as before. unfortunately I doubt its going to happen that way. the intake inparticular my dad and I installed a while back, no body shop can replace that. And if they made another one like it, it still wouldn't be the same you know? now I don't have a clue what to do. I'm supposed to start work tomorrow, but now I just don't feel like going anywhere.

I know it's hard, but try to cheer up! Cars are replaceable, you're not. Also, it's heartwarming to hear a story about how someone and their Dad made memories with a car. I'm hoping my kids feel as strongly about stuff we do one day. The positives are, you're OK, the car doesn't look that bad, and it creates more opportunities for you and Dad to make some more memories with the car. :thumb:

That's rough. I always try to look at situations like this as an oppurtunity to start over. It just really sucks when it's someone else who determines it's time for you to start over.

Fortunately, in this case life goes on. Glad everyone is OK. Just take it one day at a time, and I'm sure you'll have an awesome SHOw car again real soon.

be glad you did not total the car.....a "guy" i know...put thousands of dollars into his engine in his 99 taurus, only to total it 4 hours later.....just think about that and be glad that its all repairable.

If you did not catch the joke, im the "guy"

It will all work out....now you get to redo the CAI and other suff and have the chance to make improvements!!!!

If its any consolation, you still get my vote for COTM. :D I am really sorry to hear about your accident. I am sure you can put her back together again, maybe better then before! Just be sure to shop around for a shop that cares about your car as much as you do. When my Probe got smashed by a ******* in a Econoline, I got kind of a shotty job and I wished I would have looked around more.

Good Luck,

Every time we get into an accident.. we usually have a camera right there with us..
well that's a good thing, you should always keep a camera in the car incase you get into an accident, (or see something stupid/funny) it's so you can document the accident, and make sure the other guy dosen't try and screw you over and try gettin more money out of you then he should. same with property damage.

sorry to hear about your car man, it sucks when stuff like that happens, i hope you can get her fixed up like new again.

That sucks! I have seen way to much SHO carnage in the last couple of days. Saw a '98 White one on Tuesday that the drivers side had been T-Boned and a '97 Red that was haed on into a Durango yesterday.
Sorry to hear about yours.

I just noticed something guys...

Every time we get into an accident.. we usually have a camera right there with us..
well the rest of the day's activities were going to be helping my sister with some aftermarket lights on her IROC-Z28, and then helping a new SHO owner/enthusiest with a cool air intake installation. so the camera had to be there for that. so I just so happened to have it. the other car fared far worse, there was actually a piece of his rim in my fender that I found after getting it home. he broke his rim apart, mine needs to be replaced anyway, but its at least in one piece. its like the entire front driver's section of his car is gone, and its all over the place around where my car was. actually, except for the clear corner, and a few piece of the ground effects, nothing actually came off my car. the ground was littered with debris but it was all from him. I feel sorry for him though, the cop really drilled him when we were talking about it. he kind of had the "cop talking to a stupid think-you're-invincible teenager" kind of attitude. my dad and I both agreed that we weren't to happy with the way the cop was treating everyone. but he got his job done. but now that 17 year old has this on his record, his rates are going to go up, he got the ticket of course, who knows what consequences that could bring. I really don't feel any spite towards him, I know he didn't do it on purpose. I just feel like it was an accident and everyone is on the loosing side here.

the front wheel has me most worried though, the steering linkage is broken somehow, poped ball joint, broken connector, I don't know. but there could be more damage. it sure jolted that wheel alot, it acually looks as if it took the brunt of the collision. snaped that steering right off it though, I didn't even feel the jolt through the steering wheel. I'm really worried that he may have messed up the suspension, or the SARC sturt, and I shudder at the thought that the transaxle took any of that impact. because if it did I think I'm at risk for having it totalled. which would be majorly uncool. I just hope that it can be put back together, there's so much stuff to worry about there. like the struts are ajusted differently from stock. I had FPS adjust them to give me a slight bit of front end lowering while I had my cams welded. I need to make sure that the repair shop doesn't screw that up, and the alignment! this car has a special alignment on it to Doug's specs, better than the stock alignment, and the only place that he trusts to do alignments for him and his customers is Kouffman, which is of course in Douglasville, GA. how am I ever going to get the car to drive like it did again without taking it all the way down there to have them do the alignment right? I have yet to find a place that does good alignments, except for them, they did a really great job, and the car handled like it was on rails after they were done. how am I ever going to get that back? this has been such a sucky day. and its midnight now, I have to get up at 6, so I can take out the ol' Vulcan SLO to get to work by 8. 50 mile trip without my baby (although this car is nice too!). its gonna suck.
