On my way to removing the heater core on my 2002 Ford Taurus SES, I prematurely removed the ignition cylinder before the steering wheel was removed (rookie mistake as this is my first time removing the entire instrument panel). When I put the ignition cylinder back into it's original position, I found that the cylinder doesn't quite turn back all the way for the key to come loose. The cylinder appears to be in the right position but it is about 1/8 of an inch to far forward, it seems. I need to get the key out to lock my steering wheel for the removal process. I'm stuck here and could use any tips on how to fix this problem.

Thank You

Yes, after searching this forum, I found the shortcut video. I actually did not cut the recommended piece of metal off under the glovebox and still was able to slip the core out. Thank you for your reply and I will be doing more research on my ignition problem.
