The good ole 1-2 for a car that won't start...
1. Check for spark. Pull out one plug, reconnect the plug wire, and hold the tip of the plug against the exhaust manifold and have a friend start the car. BE SURE TO NOT TOUCH ANY PART OF THE PLUG WITH YOUR HANDS. Also, don't have the plug too close to the plug hole in the block. If the plug fires while your friend is cranking it over, then you have spark.
2. Check for fuel. With that plug out of the block, the A/F mixture will be forced out the hole on every compression stroke. Smell it for gas.
These are the two most common causes for a no-start engine.
