Hello all,

I need help desperately. My 96 Taurus' (3.0 DOHC) lock cylinder went limp last night, and after removal and inspection of some of the column, it appears that the sliding rod that connects the lock cylinder to the ignition switch has disconnected/broken. Any info on how to get inside and fix? My Chilton manual doesn't cover this procedure. I assume the steering wheel must be removed. If anyone has some info, I would greatly appreciate it.

Love the forum!

Thanks

Are you trying to get the ignition lock out? The Hayne's manual for my '95 says that you push a small rod into a hole under the lock in the steering column and then turn the key to the run position and pull the lock out. I think G3s would have the same ignition/steering column.
