Hi Everyone! I'm new to this site and hoping for some help. I just recently purchased an 07 Taurus. The car only came with 1 key and no remote. It looks as though it originally had one though as the only door with with a key lock is the drivers and the only way to lock & unlock is by using the button on the driver side door or passenger door. I picked up a fob from Autozone and read up on how to program it. Turn the key 8 times and the car is supposed to go into "Program" mode with the locks locking. I have tried multiple versions of this technique and had no success. I have tried disconnecting the battery then turning key 8 times. I've tried it with the door open & closed. No luck! The car was originally purchased & used as a county or "fleet" vehicle and I'm wondering if that is what is holding me up? Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Are you following the instruction exact? I programmed several key fobs on my '06 and it sounds very close to what you are doing. The door had to be closed as I recall and it must be done within a certain time (about 10 seconds). You will know it is good when the locks activate by themselves at the end of the procedure. I did have to do it several times before it worked also, persistence. Start with the locks Unlocked.

Car may not be equipped with RKE module.
It looks as though you may be right. I checked with a locksmith who was unable to get the car into programming mode as well. He suggested I call Ford directly. I called Ford and gave them the car VIN # and was told that car was "Less the Control Unit". They suggested I take it to local dealer. I checked with one dealer who wanted over $300. I also checked with a couple of car stereo specialists and got it down to $200. Does anyone know what parts are needed and where I might be able to find them to do this myself?

Most '06/'07 (if not all) were mfg./sold as rental/lease cars. Thus, many options were "fleet delete".
