I'm trying to add a partition to my external HDD to allow it to operate with the PS3. It is presently formatted as 465gb NTFS, and I need a ~20gb Fat32 on it as well. I would prefer the method to be free.

Thanks,
Michael

Old thread, but I figured I'd post the solution I found.

Easeus Partition Manager
http://www.partition-tool.com/download.htm

Takes less than a minute to format 1tb and allows resizes without deleting info.

It's functining now, so ###### it

There's options for 'harder' wipes, but like you said, it works.

Got ~375gb (4gb avg) in movies on it connected to the PS3

The newer drives it's not so bad. The amount fo bad sectors is pretty much 0 out of the box. The old drives were another story. You HAD to do a full hard format to find all the dud sectors. Granted they were only ~10gb or less, so the hard formats didn't take very long.

I use partition magic and have been for 6+ years with no problems whatsoever.

Isn't there a partition tool that comes with Windows?

I had to do it when I bought a second hard drive for my computer.

It won't format Fat32 over 32gb.

I don't believe you can change the partition around either without deleting all the data when using the partition tools in windows.

Both are true. Thats why I like partition magic, you can reformat a drive and create another partition if you wanted without losing any of your old data.

I liked PM until it ate a drive and my music collection. Luckily, backups were on hand.
