My taurus is having trouble accelerating especially up hills, when it almost

reaches top of hill it begins to lose speed even when i have the

accelerator fully engaged. Recently i tried replacing the fuel pump and fuel

filter, drove it today same issues. before that i replaced spark plugs with

motorcrafts. my next direction to go in it to replace fuel pressure

regulator and fuel rail pressure sensor (could they be the same thing?)

Any one had this issue or understand what the problem with my taurus

could be? I have heard that for the 2003 model, Ford changed the

transmission and it dies around avg mileage of 88500 is this true? Could

there be a solution to this?

MY TAURUS
2003 3.0L V6 SE
89225(2 JUL 2011)

any help would be awesome thanks

Do you have a check eng. light illuminated? If so, post the codes. 2000 and up went from fuel pressure regulator to fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail. Cats ok?

this may sound silly but i was having the same problem today and i found out my coil wire wasnt fully snapped into the distributor cap. I dont know about your year but you might want to check that out, if you have coil packs you might want to check your spark output.

Honestly, pay a qualified shop to run a diagnostic. Yes, it will cost you around $100, but how many hundreds have you spent on parts that weren't bad? Without any further evidence all of our suggestions are pretty much useless at this point. The problem at least has to be narrowed down to a driveability, engine mechanical, or transmission problem. There are 100 possibilities at this point.
