After detailing my wife's wagon last weekend I went to Home Depot and purchased a roll of adhesive carpet plastic. You can find it in the carpet department. It's usually used in new homes after they lay the carpet to keep workmen off of it. I laid it in the trunk and under all the floor mats and next weekend I'll go back and apply it to the back of the front seats. As anyone with kids a car seat know, little muddy feet don't like to be idle.

I got a couple of cans of Scotch Gaurd when I bought the car but that only keeps the interior from getting stained. The plastic keeps the interior from needing to shampooed.

No. You hardly notice it since it's under the floor mats. And as far as the back of the seat goes, I don't care what it looks like if it keeps the seats clean. I in the process of looking for seat covers but my wife wants something that looks like factory.

Yeah, old people know what they're doing with those vinyl sofa covers.

If you got kids too, I can totally understand. Or if you just have A-Hole friends. Do like I did, just get some extra carpet that matches and cut it out to fit over the floor mat and the entire carpet. Mine doesn't match, but I don't really care, it's just a temp thing while I go to Tahoe.
