well.. for me, looking at the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley was not so hard. can see it right there..
to see where the cylinder one stood was the hard part. (can not see)
so i had put a long plastic rod on the cylinder one, through the spark plug hole, and watched it go up and down
as i was turning the crank. and when it stops at top, (tdc)
you should be set. i hope this helps.
