I recently replaced the EGR valve so I will throw a DPFE sensor at it to see of that solves those codes but the security codes are what i'm concerned about. I have noticed the theft light blinking after starting the engine but since the car starts and runs fine I never thought anything of it. When I pulled the codes I googled U1147 and only found posts about no start conditions or posts with no conclusion. I want to make sure this "communication" issue won't disable the car and leave me stranded somewhere. What might be causing this issue? I do have 1 aftermarket key but have for years and never noticed this issue before, could this be the issue or would it have thrown a MIL earlier? I also noticed that one of the keyfobs only works intermittently (haven't noticed it on the other fobs, so i just figured it was a dead battery in the fob) Is this because of the B2425, any pointers on fixing this issue? Do I just need to reprogram that fob, or all the fobs? Car is a 1999 Duratec Sable
thanks -Brad

Check/clean out the "c-channel" thoroughly behind the tb gasket prior replacing the dpfe sensor. Use a slotted screwdriver/tb spray. Also clean the 3 notches at the bottom of the channel. In the upper lefthand corner of the channel is the passageway to the egr valve. That must be clean/clear too.

sorry for the late response, just spent the last week replacing a blown radiator hose.

thanks sheila, ill do that when I visit my parents next (not allowed to work on the car in my apartment parking lot, had to limp it to my sister's house to fix the radiator hose.)

any ideas about the security dtc's? or should I not be worried/will this not disable the car if it hasn't already?
