Gen Iii Pats Bypass Unit For Remote Start

anyone have the bypass for a remote start? I have the part number around here somewhere, I think I may buy one sometime soon, since I really want my remote starter working now that its cold out. how does it hook up? by testing the remote start, the pats chip keys are only needed during engine start, after the engine is started, you can take the key out and it will keep running. so does this hook up to the ignition wire coming out of the remote starter? but main question is: does it diode isolate that circuit? because if it doesn't, turning th ekey will activate the module, just like the remote starter will. and that kind defeats the purpose. I need it to activate to bypass pats only when the remote starter is cranking the engine, not when the thief with a screw driver in the ignition does. I suppose I can diode isolate it myself, but what a pain, it would be much better if the thing would do that for me...anyone know?

ok...its a DEI 555U, it is VERY easy to connect. (directed electronics....sold at any major store for about 35$)

one wire goes to a "loop" which you place around your key cylendar (no i cant spell). when you see it you will understand. IT transmits the signal from the key inside the box. This is the type of unit that "eats a key" (you place a key inside the box). The other harness contains 3 wires....blue,red and white. The white wire is not used. You connect the red wire to contant 12volts and the blue wite that gives a - output during crank (also called 2nd status output)

Summary

Harness 1 - to loop around key cyl

Harness 2 - Red -Positive 12 Volts
Harness 2 - White - NOT USED
Harness 2 - Blue - negitive swiched during start

There is alos a DEI 555F this module is simmilar, but does not require a key....it pretends to be a key. you need to program your car to accept it. These do not work well and are verry fussy. If you want to use it you can and here is how:

Harness 1 - to "transmitter" (place next to key cyl)

Harness 2 - Red - Connect to contant 12 volts
Harness 2 - Blue - Connect to swiched negitive output during crank

should work just the same. I didn't know they were ground triggred, could I ground it and use the positive as a trigger when the remote starter is activated? Iguess I'll have to use relays to isolate it anyway, if you just hook it up to the remote starter wires, it will activate when the key is turned, disabling the pats system completely. I sure don't want that.

yes you can swich it positivly.....
which remote start module are you using (brand and model) than i can advise better how to do it

most remote starts have a "ground out when activated" to trigger bypass units so there is no need to isolate it, and will still retain the integrity of the anti theft key

well, I don't know yet, I think I'm going to get the Ford unit, since it will stand the best chance of compatibility without crazy behavior

sounds good to me, but where do I get a circuit that is ground when remote starting? only thing I can think of would be to use a relay activated by the remote start's ignition, which would take car of isolating it. so that will work great, but is that how they are supposed to be wired up? or should there be a ground when remote starting wire coming off my unit somewhere?
