See this forum and others in the braking/suspension forum. I just did mine.. I had problems getting my ball joint nuts off. I used the hex holding feature but rounded off the stud. Used heat; use vise grips; used a jack under the joint for leverage, etc. ultimately ground them off.. others seemed to have better luck than me though. In concept, a very simple job.
My lower control arm bushings are rotted out, and I have some "thudding" over bumps, so it's time for the lower control arms / ball joint assemblies. I wanted to see if anyone has done this DIY on their 6th gen bull. If so, any recommendations / advice is appreciated.
What specifically is your question? I have a 2011 Taurus Limited FWD and just changed my entire suspension out. Inner/outer tie rods, control arms, control arm bushings, struts, strut bearings, stabilizer links, and basically the same for the rear. TS6034 on YouTube did a control arm replacement on a Ford 500 with essentially the same suspension with the exception of the steering. Pretty good video. If for some reason you deside to change your struts AVOID Monroe Quick Struts at all costs. Their strut bearings/bushings are absolute garbage.
