I am looking into replacing the tail gate on my 96 sable wagon with a junk yard one. I am expecting to change the whole assembly out except for the glass. I assume all else is identical. Is my assumption correct?

I would like to confirm if the wiring pin outs are the same on all model years for the Gen 3. I don't want to find out too late that lights,speakers or wiper doesnot work or the factory alarm is not working.

Also, Can I use a gen 4?

What do I need to know to avoid any compatibility issues?

96-up, The only difference is with wiper/washer or without. Match that and your set.
