I'm trying to replace the stock radio with an after market one in my 96 GL Wagon.

The instructions from Crutchfield for the location off the rear unit is for the Sedan. When I call customer service, they said it was the same for the wagon.

Where is the unit located?

Thanks

I don't have a wagon, but this might help anyway. The box you're looking for should be on the drivers side in the back somewhere... I'm not familiar with the innards of the wagon, but the box should look like this:

Hi,

I finally found the unit. In the wagons, it is behind the spare tire between the outerskin of the body and the inner frame work. The unit cannot really be seen, but the connectors are visible.

The receiver I am installing is from Crutchfield and I must comment about them.

1. The directions from them were specific to the sedan and of no help for the wagon. When I spoke to them about, they said the directions were for both.

2. I ordered the dash kit (Scosche) from them and when I examined it, the lettering on the Rear Defog button was upside down. I called tech support and asked if there was any way of turning it. The tech said no, and they would send out a replacement. The replacement came with the lettering correct, but the button was broken. This time the tech went to the shelves to examine one. He told me that the one he was looking had the letters turned 90 degrees. I said could you possibly find a correct one and send it. He said that they would send out another replacement, but it would be the last one, since it is their policy to only send 2 replacements. I said fine, thinking that if this one was defective, I would return everything. Luckily, the second replacement came yesterday, it appears to be fine. I am hoping that it also works.

Hopefully, I will do the installation this weekend.
