I called up autozone and they said a new water pump is 15 bucks. Is this a project I can do in my drive way. I am mechanically inclinded. Any precautions I should take when changing it? Thanks

engine?year?i had a shop do mine on my 95 vulcan, they had to take off the alternator and fluid boxes......took them at least 2-3 hours to do it in their shop........i was thinking about doing it....and i gave myself 2 days.....
gen 2 vulcans are easy, like he said just gotta remove the alt and fluid reservoirs. It can be done in less than an hour with good tools.
Alright, what should I use on the gasket and are there any precautions I should take?

Also is there a torque spec on the pump retaining bolts and pully bolts and do I need to loctite either?

Any info is helpful. Thanks
