Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. With mine I pried it back with a breaker bar and it still would not budge. It was frozen in place. I just had to replace it, cheap and really easy.
Gen 2 Automatic Tensioner
I was changed the water pump and that on my 94 gl, but I cant get the belt back on. The tensioner will not move. I have tried hitting it with a hammer and block of wood but it will not budge. Please help asap. Thanks
