After having just made a very long night drive back from distant in-laws after Thanksgiving holiday, I am astounded at the improvement in headlamp performance on my '02 SEL that a set of GE NightHawk bulbs and SUV Lights wiring/relay harness made. Get it. You won't regret it.

Agreed. The SUVLights harness is great...even on its own with some decent headlight bulbs. The only hard part is putting a hole in the back of the headlight rubber grommet.

"The only hard part is putting a hole in the back of the headlight rubber grommet." Spot on. That IS the hardest part. Here's what I did, as always YMMV. Got a set of grommets from a "donor car" at a boneyard. Removed the SUV Lights' harness lamp socket pins and wires from its lamp socket with a jeweler's screwdriver. Pushed the pins and wires through the holes in the donor's grommets using a piece of rectangular brass tubing from the local hobby shop for their protection. Silicone grease immensely aided the whole process. Then reinserted the pins back into the SUV Lights socket in the correct order. Nice, weather tight assembly.

Can you explain why you need to do this grommet thing. Is the grommet issue unique to "Gen" 4's?

I thought the SUV harness installation was very clean, "plug and play" sorta speak.

Please expand for a moron like me as I am contemplating doing this on my gen 3. I want to make sure I am well prepared for it.
Thanks

On my Gen 3 I just hooked up the wiring...I had no grommet? to deal with. The bulb plugs just had a plastic collar around them, in fact some are even missing the collars for whatever reason, and the bulbs are right there for the new harness to plug into.

I bought the SUVlights harness for my 2002, but I'm not sure where the large blue connector plugs into. The harness has the hot and ground wires, 2 relays, an end for each headlight bulb and a blue connector. I can't seem to find where this blue connector hooks up. Could someone please explain it to me? Thanks.

So you know that you have to thread the connectors through the rubber grommet into the actual light housing, those are your actual headlight connectors, the old ones are are for the light bulb. Remember to check Topic Finder at the top...there's some threads in there about this :)
