Help:
I have a '99 Taurus SE with about 75,000 miles. The gas pedal sticks at the complete closed position after the car sits for a few hours. Now, for about the last month the engine stumbles about 1 in 10-15 dead stop starts with light to mid-light acceleration. No Check engine light on or flashing.
Any thoughts?
Original Engine and transmission. No work done on it other than but routine.

Have you checked the TB and the plate?

take the accordian tube off the throttle body. inside will be a plate that closes off the intake. That could be sticking due to it needing to be cleaned, or other reasons.

I had the same prob. Was the TB. Get TB cleaner (NOT Carb. Cleaner) and spray on TB and wipe up. You will see black carbon around it making in stick closed.

I have a kinda similar problem. My pedal sticks in cold weather. If i press it hard or goose it, it loosens up eventually (after the car warms up)

No misses or stalls or anything. Just sticks in cold weather. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my Villager. A can of intake cleaner took care of it.
