I have the clears on my rears with a piece of urethane to cover the part of the lens that is "missing." Since I work at a bowling alley, the urethane was easy to come by. All those high-priced bowling balls that you see in a "pro shop" at a bowling alley, who woulda thought that I'd be usin somethin produced for them on my car? The piece of urethane was cut off of a "thumb slug" that is used to make those performance bowling balls feel smoother on the thumb. The slug is a solid piece of urethane that is inserted into the thhumbhole and then when the ball is "labeled" for drilling, the slug is drilled for the individual's thumb size. The idea occured to me when the guy who was workin the shop left a thumb slug stickin out of someone's thumbhole (slugs aren't supposed to go all the way down anyway, because everyone has different sized thumbs, some do, most don't). Coincidently, the slug was a dark blue, almost the same as my car. So when he went to cut the rest off, I asked if I could do it. He said sure. So, I went out to the car and traced onto a piece of paper what shape I needed for the urethane. I go back inside and grab the dremelsaw and traceout the shape on the slug with it. Now, comes the hard part. I have the shape of what I need stickin out of a bowling ball and all I have to do is cut it off in one piece. I'd say the piece was about 3" tall so I had room for error. I had to cut enough of the urethane off so i could split it into 2 of these objects (one for each side). I ended up using a razor blade to cut the piece off of the ball as well as spliting it into. Trotted out to the car with the urethane pieces and some superglue and I was all done. Not much too it. From a distance, you can't even tell anything is being hidden. Anyways, I've got a really great body shop that's gonna fiberglass over my urethane work when I have my SHO bumper put on, to make the lens area look just like the front. They said since I took the time to make those pieces, they may as well reuse them to help reinforce the fiberglass. It looks good from a distance of about 3-4 feet, it's just when you start lookin closely can you tell those pieces are there. Just a suggestion.
