I have two other Fords (well actually a Mazda and a Turbo Coupe), and both of them have rubber timing belts. They are scheduled for replacement at the 100,000 mile marker.

I was curious as to whether or not my 1993 Taurus GL 3.0 had a belt.

So, I looked at my Taurus Owner's Guide (which also has references for the 1993 SHO) and it says to replace the SHO's "Cam Belt" at both 99,000 and 120,000 miles. Ford must have had some inside information that SHO owners beat their cars severely from between 99,000 and 120,000 miles, but not before or after that.

P.S. There's no belt on the 3.0 GL (it's a [hopefully] no-maintenance chain)
