Fuel Gauge And Fuel Computer
I have a 95 3.8L Sable Wagon with digital dash display.
Last night my fuel gauge started to go down very fast, way faster than I was consuming fuel. The fuel computer was also displaying a decrease in miles till empty -- about 5 times faster than usual.
FInally, the fuel gauge and fuel computer displayed 1 gallon left, but I actually filled the tank full. Still no change in the fuel computer/gauge display.
So the question is: how do I know whether it is the computer, the display, the sender, or what?
I hate to have to drop the fuel tank, since I just did this last year to have the fuel pump replaced. It cost me a pretty $400. But the guy who did it now says that he has no way to check the sender without pulling down the tank.
Any advice out there?
