98 Duratec. Tried to change the fuel filter. The fitting on the tank side was stuck on and I tried a little too hard to pull it off and ended up destroying it. As near as I can tell, the fitting has a barbed end that is pushed into the nylon tubing. Dorman seems to have a replacement part that can be order through Auto Zone, but it is unclear what size I need. They have 5/16" fitting with 5/16" hose, 3/8",3/8" and a combination of the two sizes. Does anyone know what size fits my car?

Also, does anyone know of a technique to pull the barb out of the tubing and push the new barb back in? In other applications I have used hot water to soften things up, but I don't want to get water in the fuel lines.

Thanks.
