From what I can remember you don't need a license key unless you are doing advanced stuff like programming keys or changing the computer. Also you can get the free limited license for 2 months at a time by emailing them why you need it.

I think they said they do this to help prevent people from using the program for bad things, and to keep new users away from things that might ruin their car.

What are you trying to do with FORSCAN?

Depending on the year it might not be a option, I had to wire a relay to my headlight switch and than cut the wire leading to the smart junction box (interior fuse panel) and bypass the DRL that way.

Here is some more information on a post i created last year to deal with the DRL being on all the time in my 2007.

BCM is Body Control Module. (the fuse box under the dash to the left of the stearing wheel) It is programable. Either a bi-directional scan tool, or FORScan should be able to disable/enable DRL. BCM is the module that controls the DLRs and it is one of the settings in it that enables/disables DRL. It also does fog lights, head lights, turn signals, and a lot of other stuff.
