Transmission Fluid and filter change

I changed the transmission fluid and filter in my 1998 Taurus with the vulcan engine. While pouring the waste fluid into a can for disposal, I noticed a very thin washer, about 1'' in diamater in the bottom of my drain pan. This washer must have came from the transmission filter, I assume. Any ideas? What should I do?

You should be ok if the new filter came with a new washer on the tip.

If the filter came with a washer on the top it must have been secured there because I never noticed a waher in the box.

I removed the magnetic washer when I cleaned the bottom of the pan. This was defiantly not the same washer.
