Service engoine light starts flashing I keep getting code 301 I've replaced spark plugs and wires. It only happens when idling and usually stops after a minute or so. I can feel the power kick in after I start going again. usually around 20 miles an hour. Any ideas? 96 gl 3.0 ohv motor approx 80,000 miles.

nobody else ever have this problem? Need advise this is driving me crazy!!!
A flashing MIL indicates a misfire. Quick way to kill the cats. Check All Plugs, Wires and the coil, take a close look at number one.
How can I check the coil pack to see if it's good? I pulled the #1 plug wire off and the engine still ran and had lots of spark trying to get back to the wire.
When I had this problem I just replaced plugs and wires, problem solved. Sorry I can't be more helpful. But also as JJ57 stated this is a good way to fry the cats possibly starting a fire according to my manual. Good luck
Swap the number one and two plug wires. If the code changes to P302 then it is a bad wire.
Also check the plug gap, and the plug itself. If it does not, then the coil took a dump.
The longer you drive like this the more damage you will do to the cats.
